Pizza doughPizza dough

Ingredients

  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 ½ teaspoons dry active yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Olive oil
  • Flour

Method

Put warm water in a small glass bowl, sprinkle yeast into bowl and allow it to sit for 1 minute then stir until yeast dissolves.

In a large stainless steel mixing bowl mix the 3 cups of flour and the teaspoon of salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir to form a soft dough. Once dough is formed place it on a floured surface and knead until the dough becomes elastic, adding more flour if you need.

Coat a large mixing bowl with oil and place the dough into it. Turn the dough so it is covered lightly in oil. Put plastic wrap over the bowl and place the bowl in a warm place and leave it to double in size, this should take about 1 to 1 ½ hours.

Flatten the dough with your hands, roll the dough back into a ball and then roll out to a pizza shape and size.

Place the pizza shape back onto the floured surface and cover it with plastic wrap and leave for another hour, the dough should rise again.

Leave 1 hour and then top with your favourite pizza trimmings.
